Coles aren’t the only people taking to social media to tell their story about their support for farmers and communities (and of course in Coles case they are jesting)
This Ram truck brand add first aired during the second half of the Superbowl XLVII,
The Ram Truck brand commissioned 10 noted photographers, including National Geographic icon William Albert Allard and renowned documentary photographer Kurt Markus, to document American farm life and what a compelling selection of images they are. They then took a moving speech, “So God Made a Farmer,” given by the late legendary radio broadcaster Paul Harvey to the National Future Farmers of America Convention in 1978 and overlayed it on top of the photo montage. I am confident you will agree the results are nothing short of spectacular .
“It had to be somebody who’d plow deep and straight … and not cut corners,” Harvey says in the speech. “Somebody to seed and weed, feed and breed … and rake and disc and plow and plant and tie the fleece and strain the milk. Somebody to replenish the self feeder and then finish a hard days work with a five-mile drive to church. Somebody who’d bale a family together with the soft strong bonds of sharing, who’d laugh and then sigh … and then respond with smiling eyes when his son says he wants to spend his life ‘doing what dad doe.’ So, God made a farmer!”
It doesn’t just stop there Ram aims to raise awareness and generate funds for the Farmers Federation of America’s hunger relief efforts in local communities across America. For every view, download or share of the two-minute “So God Made a Farmer” spot located on the brand’s website, Ram will make a donation to the National FFA Organization with the intent of generating $1 million. The brand is calling on the public to help reach the goal by viewing and sharing the video posted at www.ramtrucks.com/keepplowing.
The video was posted 6 days ago and has already had almost 9 million hits. I don’t know about you but I think this makes Coles self indulgent animation look quite crass
UPDATE 10th February 2013 ‘So God Made a Farmer’ is still currently attracting close to a million viewers per day. How big can it go?
Wow Coles just imagine what you could have achieved if you had a similar social conscience?????
