I am devastated – Milk Industry Champion puts farm up for sale

I am just devastated by this announcement Our Farm in up for Sale

Never has the Australian dairy industry had such a champion. The industry so needs visionary people like Marian Macdonald

Marian MacDonald

I declare Marian to be the best thing that has ever happened to the Australian dairy industry.

She is Wonder Woman personified

This is a huge gap in the advocacy sphere.

Who will step up to fill this cavernous gap?

  1. New Zealand’s economy has been booming due to milk exports while the Australian milk industry has been going backwards. Why is that so? Are Australian ‘small’ dairy farmers being forced out so big dairy hubs can take over?

    1. Hi John
Thats a complex question which I am going to answer this way. Having been involved in the Australian dairy industry at farm, advocacy and policy representative levels I believe we will only get change when we build the advocacy, policy skills and knowledge base of our farmers. Our The grass roots leaders receive no policy development and advocacy training and struggle to see the big picture. Our dairy industry is being micromanaged

  2. I think Marian could run for politics and make a real difference. Please join Gippsland Greens, Marian! The first thing you could do in office would be to get the Gippsland bus routes lengthened, more bus routes, more stops, so farming families that can’t afford to don’t have to have two or more cars on the road! Also so that rural youth could do apprenticeships or just work experience or part time jobs on farms, as currently they often can’t physically get there!

Rural people need an experienced advocate for us in parliament driving real change.
